Psychology faculty salaries increase again

U .S. psychology faculty salaries rose this past year, even accounting for inflation, according to new data released by APA's Center for Psychology Workforce Analysis and Research (http://research.apa.org). This month, the center's Web site also features new data on doctorate employment and salaries in psychology, which will be the focus of an upcoming Monitor cover story.

Source: 2005-06 and 2006-07 Faculty Salary Surveys, APA Center for Psychology Workforce Analysis and Research and Council of Graduate Departments of Psychology. Note: All salaries are 9- to 10-month salaries. Percentage changes in monetary terms are measured in current dollars. Percentage changes in real terms reflect the percentage increase in monetary terms adjusted for the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. These percentage changes were 4.7% for the period from September 2004 to September 2005 and 2.1% for the period from September 2006 to September 2007.
