Volunteer to represent APA and psychology at the United Nations
Print version: page 66

APA seeks applications from psychologists to join the APA nongovernmental organization (NGO) representative team at the United Nations in New York.

APA has consultative status with the U.N. Department of Public Information, the Economic and Social Council and the U.N. Children's Fund as one of many NGOs whose goals overlap with those of the United Nations.

APA appoints a team of psychologists who serve as its NGO representatives. These psychologists collaborate with other NGO representatives to identify issues, organize programs and draft statements that bring psychological science and a psychological perspective to bear on global policies and programs. Representatives also foster dialogue and information exchange between psychologists and United Nations diplomats and representatives of U.N. agencies.

Two positions will be open with appointments beginning January 2009, each with a renewable term of five years.

For information on how to apply, visit www.apa.org/international/un/call-2008.html. Applications are due March 1. For more information, contact Merry Bullock, PhD, at (202) 336-6024 or e-mail.
