VOLUME 29 , NUMBER 7 -July 1998 Three reports on employment issues now available from APA?s Research OfficeAPA?s Research Office has released three new reports on employment and salaries of psychologists, now available for purchase: ? The 1997 Salaries in Psychology provides psychologists? salaries by degree level, position, setting and years since doctorate. The report also lists the salaries of doctoral-level psychologists by sex, race/ethnicity and geographic region. ? The 1997?98 Faculty Salaries in Graduate Departments of Psychology compiles the salaries of graduate faculty members in the United States and Canada by academic rank, years in rank, years since earning the doctorate and sex. The report also provides separate tables based on the type of institution (private or public), type of department (e.g., psychology, counseling), and geographic region. Other tables report salary changes over the past three years, salary raises and decreases, starting and expected salaries of newly hired faculty, salaries paid to adjunct/part-time faculty per course, and salaries and benefits of departmental chairs and other administrative positions. ? The 1997 Employment Characteristics and Salaries of Medical School Psychologists focuses on the demographic and employment characteristics (e.g., rank, tenure status), characteristics of employer and institutions/departments (e.g., department type?psychiatry, pediatrics, etc), activities (e.g., services provided), privileges (e.g., medical staff membership, limitations imposed on psychologists), and benefits (e.g., employer-paid malpractice insurance) of psychologists within medical school settings. Most of the report focuses on recent salaries by department type, academic rank, years since doctoral degree, geographic region and sex. Each report may be purchased for $15.
