The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) announces the Scientific Freedom and Responsibility Award. Each year, the AAAS honors scientists who examined the issues of public health and safety. The AAAS also awards individuals who kept the public informed on the effect science and technology would have on society. Submissions must include contact information of nominee, an explanation why the nominee should receive the award, two letters of recommendation, the nominee?s vita (no more than three pages) and any documentation supporting nominee?s work. The Anxiety Disorders Association of America (ADAA) seeks candidates for the 1999 Young Investigators Research Awards, which recognizes extraordinary research concerning the onset and treatments for anxiety disorders.
