All research-based submissions must include at least three relevant references. Opinion essays and reviews from articles by experts are also welcome. Div. 39 (Psychoanalysis) The Steering Committee of Div. 39 invites submissions for its 19th annual spring conference, 'Therapeutic action: the passion and challenge of psychoanalysis,' to be held April 14?18, 1999, in New York City. Submissions should examine the history of therapeutic action of psychoanalysis from a variety of contemporary perspectives. All entries are due Sept. 1. Div. 50 (Addictions) and Div. 28 (Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse) Divs. 50, 28 and the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) of the National Institutes of Health are sponsoring a conference at APA?s 1998 Annual Convention, Aug. 14?18 in San Francisco. The topic, 'Alcohol and addiction research: achievements and promise in behavioral science,' focuses on alcohol and drug-related research, prevention and treatment. The discussion will also show how alcohol and drug use is relevant to a variety of behavioral research areas such as basic research, prevention, neuroscience, epidemiology, managed care and behavioral and pharmacological treatment methods.
