As one of her presidential initiatives, President-elect Dr. Norine G. Johnson has selected the topic of health care and health policy. Co-chaired by Drs. Carol Goodheart, Rodney Hammond and Ronald Rozensky, the task force will identify core public health needs and the role that psychology and psychologists can play in meeting those needs. The task force's first order of business is to recommend that APA revise its bylaws to recognize and support psychology's role in healthcare. The group will also plan products designed to educate the public about psychology's important contributions to health and will be planning 2001 convention hours around these themes.
