Privacy is topic of Town Hall Meeting at APA's Annual Convention

The APA Practice Directorate's Town Hall Breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 25, 8-10:50 a.m., will focus on the implications of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Bernald Kalb, host of CNN's "Reliable Sources," will moderate a panel discussion, including a consumer privacy expert, a HIPAA enforcement official, a leader in health-care privacy and a health-care legal expert. The panel will explore:

* The impact of technological innovations on patient privacy and confidentiality.

* The implications of federal regulations for the practice of psychology.

* HIPAA compliance requirements for psychologists.

Practitioner members should have received a registration form in the Spring 2001 issue of "Practitioner Update".
