  • Since 1998, researchers concluded that a BMI of 18.6 to 24.5 is a healthy target. A study released by Harvard researchers last year, however, questions that belief. It found that having a BMI of 22 to 24 also increases risk of disease and that a target of 19-21 appears to be the healthiest.
