Division spotlight Div. 14 presents annual awards, hosts conference Div. 14 (Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology) presented its top honors at its annual conference in Los Angeles in April. The division's award recipients are: David Nadler, PhD, chairman and CEO of Mercer Delta Consulting in New York, and Frank Erwin, PhD, of ePredix Inc. in Arlington, Va., each won the Distinguished Professional Contributions Award. Angelo S. DeNisi, PhD, of Texas A&M University, and Robert Folger, PhD, of Central Florida University, each won the Distinguished Scientific Contributions Award. Marcus Dickson, PhD, of Wayne State University, won the Distinguished Teaching Contributions Award. Richard Jeanneret, PhD, of Jeanneret & Associates in Houston, won the Distinguished Service Contributions Award. Jason Colquitt, PhD, of the University of Florida, won the Distinguished Early Career Award. Lisa Nishii, PhD, of Cornell University, won the S. Rains Wallace Dissertation Research Award. Div. 14 is presenting a conference, "Leadership at the top: The selection, globalization and ethics of executive talent," on the assessment, selection and development of global executive talent. The conference will be held Oct. 2829 at the Westin Hotel in St. Louis. The conference aims to create an ongoing working coalition of practitioners and researchers to explore future key areas of global executive talent management. Div. 31 changes name, announces Heiser Award winners In April, Div. 31 changed its name from State Psychological Association Affairs to State, Provincial and Territorial Psychological Association Affairs. In May, Div. 31 announced the following winners of the annual Karl F. Heiser Presidential Award: Ann Carson, PhD, of San Diego. Mark Hogue, PhD, of Edinboro, Pa. Paul Kettlewell, PhD, of Danville, Pa. Maria Lifrak, PhD, of East Greenbush, N.Y. Patricia Watson, PhD, of Northville, Mich. The award recognizes important legislative advocacy work by psychologists who have voluntarily advocated for state and federal laws to define the discipline of psychology. It is coordinated and administered annually by Div. 31 Past-president Jeff Barnett, PsyD, on behalf of the division. The Heiser Award Ceremony will be held on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m. in the Renaissance Washington D.C. Hotel, Meeting Room 5. All members are encouraged to attend. Div. 31 will also honor the winners at a social hour on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel in the Franklin Square and McPherson Square Rooms. Faith Kindler Kaplan, PhD, and Robert D. Younger, PhD, who won the award in 2004 but were unable to receive their awards, will accept their award this year as well. Div. 41 (American Psychology-Law Society) presented James Ogloff, PhD, past-president of the division and a psychology professor at Monash University in Australia, the Award for Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in the Field of Psychology and Law at the society's 2005 Annual Conference in March. The award honors Ogloff for his work mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in a collaborative laboratory setting, supervising graduate teaching assistants, furthering the careers of junior colleagues and participating in new curriculum and course developments. Schneider heads new task force Div. 44 (Society for the Psychological Study of Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Issues) member Margaret S. Schneider, PhD, will chair APA's new Task Force on Gender Identity, Gender Variance and Intersex Conditions. The task force will make recommendations as to how these issues should impact training, education and research, and how APA can meet the needs of psychologists and students who identify as transgendered, transsexual or intersex. Other task force members include Walter Bockting, PhD, Randall Ehrbar, PsyD, Susan Kessler, PhD, Ann Lawrence, PhD, and Kenneth Zucker, PhD. Sport psychologists to tackle D.C. community in annual giveaway-athon Div. 47 (Exercise and Sport) is organizing its third annual Sports Psychology Giveaway-athon at APA's 2005 Annual Convention in Washington, D.C., Aug. 1821. The program will offer free sport psychology services, including workshops and lectures, to local sports groups, athletes and coaches. For more information, visit www.apa47.org.
