U.S. psychology faculty salaries rose 3.3 percent from the 2003–2004 academic year to the 2004–2005 year--an increase of 0.8 percent when controlling for inflation, according to a new report from APA's Research Office.

More specifically, full professors averaged a 1.9 inflation-adjusted increase, associate professors a 0.2 percent increase, assistant professors a 1.4 percent increase and lecturers and instructors a .05 percent increase.

The 2004–2005 Faculty Salaries in Graduate Departments in Psychology report includes data on 4,703 U.S. and Canadian doctoral-level faculty members at 239 doctoral and master's programs. The report breaks down their salaries and benefits by region, years of experience, gender, type of psychology program, private versus public institution and more. It also features data on starting faculty salaries and adjunct professors' compensation.
