Judith Torney-Purta, PhD, received the Decade of Behavior Research Award from U.S. Rep. Brian Baird (D-Wash.) at a May Decade of Behavior awards symposium, "The state of democracy: Engaging a changing citizenry," on Capitol Hill. Torney-Purta, who was nominated by APA, was recognized for her research on adolescents' attitudes toward civic engagement in the United States and abroad. She was one of six awardees who gave talks at the symposium. Her talk was "U.S. adolescents and democracy: Popular misconceptions versus research results."
