IN BRIEF
Center for Deployment Psychology opens
Print version: page 17

At a May 17 lunch reception, representatives from the U.S. military and APA celebrated the opening of the Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU). The center, based in Bethesda, Md., with 10 satellite training sites, provides mental health training to military personnel in the Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as civilian mental health providers.

"The Center for Deployment Psychology will educate all behavioral health specialists in providing quality services for those families and military personnel who are in the deployment cycle protecting our freedom and way of life," says APA member Herbert Goldstein, PhD, who requested funding for the center from Rep. C.W. Bill Young (R-Fla.), who then championed the establishment of the center.
