The APA Publications Manual Revision Task Force is sponsoring an open forum for member feedback at APA's 2007 Annual Convention.

"We hope that people who have ideas about what should be in the publications manual and what revisions will make it more useful will come forward," says task force chair Mark Appelbaum, PhD.

The new edition will contain updates on citing electronic resources—something members have been requesting since shortly after the last version was released, Appelbaum notes. It will also address how to format and label radiological images such as EEG and fMRI, he says.

In addition, the editors will review standards for methodology and language use, says APA Publisher Gary VandenBos, PhD.

"How we refer to various groups—for instance ethnic minorities and people with disabilities—is always changing and will continue to change as what we see as inappropriate bias evolves," he says.

The convention feedback session will help APA ensure that the manual reflects the developing standards of the field, VandenBos says.

"We want to hear from the broadest possible range of people in psychology," he notes.
