This fall, psychologists, physicians, dentists, nurses and other health professionals will convene for the 2007 National Conference of the Association for Medical Education and Research in Substance Abuse (AMERSA). The meeting, to be held Nov. 8–10 in Washington, D.C., is supported by APA and will feature cutting-edge research on substance abuse and exemplary teaching approaches in substance abuse education. Participants can attend workshops and plenary sessions such as:

• "Circles of Recovery: What Science Tells Us about Self-Help Groups for Addictions," led by psychologist Keith N. Humphreys, PhD, of Stanford's School of Medicine; and

• "Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research's New Visions: Bridging Biomedical, Behavioral and Social-Ecological Views of Addiction—The Importance of Transdisciplinary and Translational Perspectives," led by psychologist David B. Abrams, PhD, of the National Institutes of Health.
