Visitors may search the site's international database of distance-education courses by course category, duration, language, sponsoring organization and format. National Center for Tobacco Free Kids

Curious to know how many teen-agers have become regular smokers this year? Find out at the Web site of the National Center for Tobacco Free Kids, which offers statistics on tobacco use in children, data and analyses on a range of tobacco-related issues, and links to Internet resources on tobacco. The site outlines state and federal tobacco control initiatives and offers a searchable database of news stories on tobacco use, the tobacco industry, tobacco research and legislation. Visitors can plug in a state name and get statistics on tobacco use in the state, deaths from smoking and health-care expenditures related to tobacco.
National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information

A service of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the site offers an extensive list of books, brochures, reports, fact sheets and other resources grouped by drugs of abuse. Other highlights include a newsroom with up-to-date articles and press releases on substance abuse treatment, intervention and prevention, and an archive of short briefs that sum up scientific research on drugs and alcohol. Visitors can also submit requests for further information and literature searches, and obtain referrals to alcohol and substance abuse organizations and centers through the site.
Office of National Drug Control Policy

The Web site of the office of the nation's drug czar posts data on major drug categories and special populations as well as fact sheets on drug-related crime, drug treatment in the criminal justice system and drug use trends. The site also offers a database of more than 2,000 street terms for specific drug types and drug activities, and a section on drug-related information as it applies to specific states and localities. Visitors can access reports on prevention and education, treatment, enforcement, and drug abuse and addiction research, explore funding opportunities and read the 2001 National Drug Control Strategy annual report.
Tobacco Information and Prevention Source (TIPS)

Sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Office on Smoking and Health, TIPS includes Surgeon General's reports related to tobacco, guides to quitting smoking and educational materials on tobacco's harmful effects for parents, educators and health professionals. Other highlights include a searchable database of tobacco industry documents, and TIPS4YOUTH, a special section for youth on the dangers of smoking, which includes a video on cigarette advertising and an online magazine developed by the Surgeon General's office.
