The APA Public Interest Initiatives Office is inviting qualified psychologists to submit an application for the second workshop of the ACT National Leadership program. As national leaders, participants are trained to create or help create initiatives in their communities focusing on early violence prevention. Current National Leaders take an active role in conducting workshops and implementing training programs for other professionals, and/or making presentations to professionals, parents or other family members.
The tentative date for the two-and-a-half day workshop is Sept. 26-28. The workshop and materials (manual and booklets) are free and travel expenses are covered by a grant from the MetLife Foundation. The ACT training program is approved for continuing-education units.
Who should apply? Psychologists who:
* Have experience in public speaking, conducting training and workshops.
* Have experience in consulting with family and child service providers, schools and public health agencies.
* Are interested in community action, community mobilization.
* Have interest and experience in violence prevention.
