For the next several months, the Monitor will feature psychology's leaders whose vision, time and financial support have made APF a major philanthropic organization for psychology.

Henry P. David, PhD

"Psychology has facilitated my years of cooperative international work in mental health and in reproductive behavior. After realizing that many younger colleagues doing research in areas related to population studies had few opportunities to obtain travel support to present their findings at international meetings, APF provided a mechanism for creating a travel fund. I was happy to make the initial contribution. APF continues to be a tangible means of expressing gratitude, providing a chance for others to enhance their careers and advance the field. APF is developing diverse initiatives attracting colleagues of my generation. The art of giving is finding expression through APF."

David is the founder and director of the Transnational Family Research Institute. He is currently a board member of the Moscow Center for Gender Studies and the Instituto Mexicano de Investigacíon de Familia y Poblacíon.
