  In brief
Web site lists highly cited psychologists
Print version: page 14

The psychologists cited most often in academic journals over the past 20 years are now listed in a searchable online catalog.

The Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), which produces the academic database Web of Science, recently added a psychologist/psychiatrist category to the data bank of highly cited researchers from 20 other academic disciplines, available at www.isihighlycited.com.

The database lists the 244 mental health scholars--of whom about 100 are psychologists--referenced most often in studies published between 1981 and 1999. ISI's Web site says its list represents the top one-half of 1 percent of all published researchers in their fields.

The new database also features extensive biographical listings for each psychologist or psychiatrist, including each researcher's curriculum vitae and an anthology of their published articles. The list includes 74 APA members, among them such notable psychologists as Stanford University's Albert Bandura, PhD, and former APA presidents Martin E.P. Seligman, PhD, and Robert J. Sternberg, PhD. For a complete list of APA members on the highly cited list, visit www.apa.org/monitor/jun04/cited.html.
