APA's Membership Committee is recruiting members for a fellows committee to begin next year that will recommend APA Fellow candidates to the Board of Directors and Council of Representatives. APA initiated the committee in November when members amended APA's bylaws to restructure APA's Membership Committee into a Membership Board with a separate Fellows Committee.
The committee will include at least four current APA Fellows; at least two of those members should have previous experience on the Membership Committee.
Fellows Committee members begin their three-year terms on Jan. 1, 2008. Committee members cannot serve concurrently on any division fellows committees, but previous experience on a division fellows committee is welcome. Committee members cannot endorse APA Fellow candidates during their term on the committee.
Committee members must attend a three-day meeting each March in Washington, D.C., and meet for one day during APA's Annual Convention.
To nominate candidates for the Fellows Committee, submit a statement of interest and a curriculum vitae. Self-nominations are welcome. The nomination deadline is Sept. 1. Send nominations materials and any questions to: Sonja Wiggins, Membership Committee Liaison, at the APA address; (202) 336-5590; e-mail.
