The Committee on Accreditation (CoA) will conduct full-day workshops to train doctoral, internship and postdoctoral site visitors on Thursday, Aug. 16, prior to APA's 2007 Annual Convention in San Francisco, Aug. 17-20. These workshops are open to both new site visitors and experienced site visitors and will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants in these full-day workshops receive 7.5 continuing-education (CE) credits, and APA's Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation pays the CE fees for each participant. The committee especially encourages attendance by psychologists familiar with state hospitals, community mental health centers, correctional facilities, veteran medical centers and postdoctoral residency programs. The CoA makes a special effort to ensure diversity among site visitors and strongly encourages the nomination of women and members of underrepresented groups.
The committee will also offer a half-day (1-5 p.m.) Site Visitor Chair Workshop-not for CE credit-on the same day for current site visitors interested in learning more about chairing a site visit team. There is no cost to participants for attending any of these workshops. The session is open to any participants, but only those who've participated in at least three site visits are eligible to chair site visit teams.
