APA co-sponsors sleep disorder awareness initiative

APA has signed on as a co-sponsor for the fourth annual National Sleep Awareness Week, March 26April 1.

The campaign was created by the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) to raise public awareness of the importance of sleep and sleep disorders. NSF has planned several activities for the week, including the possibility of an online live chat that people can use to ask health-care experts sleep-related questions on Tuesday, March 27. The most frequently asked questions will be printed in subsequent editions of USA Today.

The week will also include a first-ever gala on March 26 in Washington, D.C., to honor people and organizations that have made significant contributions to the field.

Other co-sponsors include NASA, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management.
