Div. 2 (Society for the Teaching of Psychology) publishes free 'e-book'
Div. 2 announces its first digitally published book, "The Many Faces of Psychological Research in the 21st Century." The online book is edited by Jane Halonen, PhD, of James Madison University, and Stephen F. Davis, PhD, of Emporia State University, and is exclusively available--free of charge--at www.teachpsych.org. The authors, a group that includes APA President-elect Robert J. Sternberg, PhD, present the latest directions in research across 13 broad subfields of contemporary psychology.
Div. 9 (Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues) to hold fourth conference
Div. 9 will hold its fourth conference in Toronto, Canada, June 28-30. The conference, "Understanding and Addressing Disparities: International Approaches," will feature basic and applied researchers along with social service providers, policy experts, social and political advocates, and individuals and groups who disseminate scientific knowledge to the general public. Div. 12 (Society of Clinical Psychology) creates task force to address therapeutic change
Div. 12, in collaboration with the North American Society for Psychotherapy Research, will sponsor a task force to define the "empirically supported principles of therapeutic change." Twenty-four senior scholars will inspect contemporary research evidence for principles that effect psychotherapeutic change within the domains of participant variables, relationship variables and treatment variables. They will focus on dysphoric disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders and habit disorders. The division plans to complete the work in early 2003.
Div. 22 (Rehabilitation) to hold annual conference
Div. 22 and the American Board of Rehabilitation Psychology (ABRP) will co-sponsor the fourth annual conference, "Rehabilitation psychology 2002: integrating science, practice and public policy," March 22-24 in New Orleans. The conference is held in conjunction with the division's annual mid-winter meeting. Keynote speaker Russ Newman, JD, PhD, APA's executive director for practice, will speak on the emergence of psychology as a health profession.
In addition to a scientific poster presentation this year, the conference will include an ABRP preparation workshop and one-on-one mentoring. The conference is approved for 18 continuing-education credits.

Div. 39 (Psychoanalysis) will meet in New York City
Div. 39 will sponsor its 22nd Annual Spring Meeting in New York City, April 10-14. The conference theme is "Evolving domains: psychoanalysis in dialogue with science, culture and technology." Symposia will "underscore the current vitality and controversy in contemporary psychoanalysis in theory, practice, science and social issues." The keynote address, "Psychoanalysis and the new world disorder," will be given by Jonathan Lear. Continuing education master classes are available.

Div. 48 (Society for the Study of Peace, Conflict and Violence: Peace Psychology) responds to terrorism
Div. 48 invites members to read its response to terrorism in "Interpreting and responding to terrorism," by Ed Cairns, PhD, president-elect of the division, and a subcommittee of terrorism experts.
