This month kicks off psychology's seven annual regional psychological association meetings, held throughout the year in several cities. Each meeting features sessions on the latest in research and practice, talks by prominent researchers, and professional development and continuing-education workshops. Eastern Psychological Association (EPA)
MARCH 13-16
BALTIMORE

Roxane Cohen Silver, PhD, will present the APA G. Stanley Hall lecture on myths about coping with stressful life events, and primate researcher Stephen Suomi, PhD, will present on "How gene-environment interactions can shape biobehavioral development in rhesus monkeys." Southeastern Psychological Association (SEPA)

The theme of SEPA's annual meeting is "Psychological science and its applications." Fourteen continuing-education workshops will be offered on topics ranging from treatment compliance to data analysis with SPSS to forensic interviewing. Invited speakers include Christina Maslach, PhD, of the University of California, Berkeley, who will discuss her research on and interventions for job burnout, leading racial identity researcher Robert Sellers, PhD, and Gary Wells, PhD, who will talk about his research and advocacy work on eyewitness identification. Rocky Mountain Psychological Association (RMPA)

RMPA's annual meeting will feature special programming on teaching, including teaching students with disabilities, developing a teaching portfolio, textbook selection, and balancing roles between teaching and other faculty obligations. Other highlights include an informal discussion and idea exchange for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) issues on campus, and a research topics session on GLBT issues. Fowler, PhD, who will reflect on his psychology career, and Gerald P. Koocher, PhD, who will discuss "Preventive interventions following a child's death." Meeting highlights for MPA's 75th anniversary meeting include invited addresses by Lyn Abramson, PhD, Lauren Alloy, PhD, Bella DePaulo, PhD, Thomas Gilovich, PhD, and Janet Hyde, PhD. David Meyer, PhD, will present the APA Distinguished Scientist Lecture on "New prospects for computational united theories of cognition and action," and Ludy Benjamin, PhD, will give an invited address on MPA's history.
