On Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon, APA's Board of Educational Affairs (BEA) will convene a discussion session to provide information on the reports resulting from the first annual Education Leadership Conference (ELC).
The session, "Rethinking education in psychology and psychology in education: an overview of the 2001 ELC," will begin with brief reports from the chairs of each conference working group. The session is also structured to allow for considerable discussion time of the concepts advanced.
BEA's Technology Working Group will present a symposium on "Technology competencies for undergraduate and graduate psychology students" on Saturday, Aug. 24, 1-2 p.m. Working group members will present information on best practices in training psychology students about the implications of technology for psychology.
BEA and the American Psychological Foundation will co-sponsor the session "The pinnacle of artistic performance: psychological perspectives and real world insights" on Saturday, Aug. 24, 10 a.m.-noon. This session features perspectives from psychological research on the preparation of visual artists, actors and musicians. To determine how insightful our scholarly activity is for the professionals whom we study, the discussants will include working artists from the visual and performing arts.
