Div. 24 Toronto programming will examine the future of the field
The focus of Div. 24 (Theoretical and Philosophical) programming at APA's 2003 Annual Convention is "The future of theoretical psychology." Several leading journal editors will reflect on current trends in theoretical psychology in the session "Journal editors: perspectives on the future of theoretical psychology." A second symposium, "Perspectives on the contribution of theoretical psychology to critical thinking," will examine the application of critical thinking in psychology.
Other highlights include the Distinguished Contribution Award Address by Rachel T. Hare-Mustin, PhD, on masculinity and gender identity from a postmodernist perspective and how theory in psychology organizes our experiences, research and practice. Canadian cultural commentator and critic Mark Kingwell will explore the ideology of happiness in contemporary life in his talk "Sure, but are you really happy?"
