APA will kick off its 2003 Annual Convention with a keynote address on Thursday, Aug. 7, 4-5:50 p.m., by psychologist and mystery writer Jonathan Kellerman, PhD. In his speech, Kellerman plans to compare and contrast his two career paths and passions--psychology and writing.

Also at the opening session, George Miller, PhD, will receive the 2003 Outstanding Lifetime Contribution to Psychology award. Miller, a former APA president and the James S. McDonnell Distinguished University Professor of Psychology Emeritus at Princeton University, is a pioneer in the study of language and cognition.

Finally, the convention's closing session, on Sunday, Aug. 10, 3-3:50 p.m., will feature something quite different this year. The Toronto Operetta Theatre, Canada's premiere operetta company, will perform their show, "The Best of Broadway"--a showcase of tunes from such Broadway hits as "South Pacific," "Guys and Dolls" and "West Side Story." The session will also feature a preview of the 2004 convention in Hawaii, including a performance by the Hawaiian Pacific Magic Dancers.
