APA PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

APA members have nominated five psychologists to run for APA’s presidency. The successful candidate will serve as 2008 president-elect, 2009 president and 2010 past-president.

The presidential candidates and the number of nominating votes they received are:

James H. Bray, PhD
1,562 votes

Carol D. Goodheart, EdD
1,166 votes

Ronald H. Rozensky, PhD
889 votes

Margaret B. Heldring, PhD
729 votes

Frank Y. Wong, PhD
562 votes

APA mailed the presidential nomination ballots to all APA voting members on Feb. 1. The nominations closed on March 19. The ballots were tabulated by Intelliscan Inc. and certified by APA’s Election Committee. All APA members are eligible to be nominated for president-elect and invited to submit a statement.

For this issue of the Monitor, the candidates have submitted biographies and candidate statements, which appear on the following pages. Additional information about the candidates will appear in the June, July/August and September issues of the Monitor, in which they will answer questions on issues of concern to APA members. Election ballots will be sent to APA members on Oct. 15, and the election will close on Nov. 29.
