VOLUME 30 , NUMBER 5 May 1999

Three honored for grassroots efforts

PA honored three Federal Advocacy Coordinators (FACs) for their outstanding work in organizing state grassroots activities that support APA's work in improving mental health care. They are:

* Joseph D. (Dan) Eubanks, PhD, of San Antonio, Texas, a Div. 40 (Clinical Neuropsychology) FAC since 1995.

* Theodore (Ted) Grant, PhD, of St. Leonard, Md., a Maryland FAC since 1997.

* John Hogg, PhD, of St. Louis, Mo., a Missouri FAC since 1995.

Each FAC is charged with developing a network of psychologist volunteers to advocate at the state level. Their outreach ranges from meeting with congressional representatives about key federal legislation, to testifying at congressional hearings to writing letters to the editors or "op-eds" in newspapers.
