For the third year, APA and the American Psychological Foundation teamed with Clark University to host a summer workshop for high school teachers of psychology to promote and advance the teaching of precollege psychology as part of the ongoing efforts of APA's Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools (TOPSS).
APA's Education Directorate and TOPSS collaborated with Clark on the workshop, which included presentations on the history of psychology, qualitative methodology, social psychology, and teaching with technology. Michael Addis, PhD, chair of the Clark psychology department and professor of psychology, presented on "Masculinities and Human Well-Being" and longtime psychology educator Charles Brewer, PhD, of Furman University, delivered a keynote address on "John B. Watson: The Misbehaving Behaviorist."
The American Psychological Foundation and Clark University funded the workshop through donations from Lee Gurel, PhD, a Clark University alumnus. For more information on the annual workshop, contact Emily Leary at (202) 572-3013.
