Continuing ed now online

Members enrolled in APA's Continuing Education Independent Study Program can now take their exams online, have their tests graded automatically and receive the results immediately, a new APA service that promises to significantly increase the convenience and reduce the waiting time for earning CE credits.
Through APA's Independent Study Program, members can earn CE credit by passing an exam based on an APA book.
Now, APA is making these exams available online.
"For our members in rural or isolated areas, the Independent Study Program is especially important, and so is the added convenience of online exams," says Jo Linder-Crow, PhD, associate executive director of education. "Some people rely exclusively on this program to get the continuing education credits required by their state. But the primary reason for continuing education is that psychologists have a responsibility to stay abreast of what's happening in the discipline."
A catalogue listing publications available for independent study and online exams is published once a year, but courses are added regularly. An up-to-date list of titles can be found at www.apa.org/ce/indst.html.
