Pianist and composer Timothy Andres (Music Composition), 16, is a senior at the Connecticut Conservatory of Performing Arts and a composition student of the eminent composer Eric Ewazen under Juillard's Pre-College program.

Newton North High School Senior Julia Carney (Journalism), 16, is editor-in-chief of her school's newspaper. She has received several awards in journalism, such as Second Best Feature from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for her article, "Working hard to navigate, communicate."

Edward Coakley (Psychology), 17, is a senior at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia. In 2001 he won a prestigious award from the Sleep Research Society for his essay "Cure could mean the big sleep for narcolepsy."

Matt Humphrey (Computer Science), 15, a soccer fan and sophomore at Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, is working toward a degree in computer science at Carnegie Mellon University.

Sophie Kerman (Creative Writing), 16, a junior at Horace Mann Upper School in Bronx, N.Y., has been writing literary works since age 3, plays the violin and participates in school theater.

Emily Russell (Physics), 16, will graduate from Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Conn., this year. She won a coveted spot on the U.S. Physics Olympiad Team Training Camp.

Matthew Salerno (Visual Art), 17, of Queens, N.Y. has interests in many art forms that span from sketching to guitar playing.
