Eric Hipple, a former National Football League player for the Detroit Lions from 1980 to 1989, received a presidential citation at APA’s 2006 Annual Convention for his more than six years of national community-based work combating adolescent depression and suicide. Hipple is an outreach coordinator for the University of Michigan Depression Center and also serves on the board of the Mental Illness Research Association and the American Association of Suicidology.
