CALL FOR PAPERS

Voices magazine requests manuscripts for the spring 1999 issue: 'A time of challenge: maintaining faith in psychotherapy.' This special issue will address questions concerning the future of psychotherapy, the challenges facing psychotherapy for the next decade and how to keep faith in discouraging times. APA?s Div. 41 (American Psychology-Law Society) and the European Association of Psychology and Law (EAPL) welcome proposals for their 1999 international conference, to be held July 6?9 in Dublin, Ireland. Div. 41 and EAPL seek abstracts for papers, posters and symposia on issues of psychology and human rights, legal procedures, judicial roles, comparative mental health law, crime and punishment and a variety of other topics. Behavioral Sciences and the Law seeks manuscripts for a forthcoming issue focusing on threat assessment. Papers should examine the assessment and management of threats in a variety of settings, including workplace, domestic and school violence, terrorism, stalking, interpersonal and group violence, law enforcement, suicide, mental illness, criminal law, juvenile justice and a host of other topics. Manuscripts must be 20?30 double-spaced pages with a 150-word abstract. The deadline for all submissions is Dec. 1. PROGRAMS

The University of Iowa Center on Aging (UICA) and the National Institute of Aging announces the National Research Service Award, which sponsors multidisciplinary research and training activities in all aspects of geriatrics and gerontology. Applicants must collaborate with a university faculty sponsor on research projects. Predoctoral applicants receive $11,748 for one year and postdoctoral applicants $21,000. Recipients may re-apply for additional funds. Applications must be received by Dec. 1. The Missouri Western State College (MWSC) has joined with the National Science Foundation to introduce the National Undergraduate Research Clearinghouse (NURC), a web site devoted exclusively to spotlighting undergraduate research. Students can post research projects on the NURC web site. The site also provides online computer assistance for submission and editing guidelines.
