VOLUME 30 , NUMBER 9 October 1999 Psi Chi commemorates its 70th in Boston Psi Chi, psychology's national honor society, celebrated its 70th anniversary by honoring its distinguished members and past presidents at APA's 1999 Annual Convention in Boston. The honor society awarded Distin-guished Member Awards for outstanding contributions to psychology and support of Psi Chi to Albert Bandura, PhD, Florence L. Denmark, PhD, Raymond D. Fowler, PhD, and Charles D. Spielberger, PhD. Psi Chi has only 16 other distinguished members, including B.F. Skinner, Neal E. Miller and John Popplestone. Eleven Psi Chi past presidents were also honored at the reception. Other commemorative events included a symposium about the past, present and future of the honor society, and a distinguished lecture for students by APA President Richard M. Suinn, PhD. Outgoing Psi Chi President Harold Takooshian, PhD, also spoke about the honor society's role in developing future psychologists. The official celebration of Psi Chi's 70th anniversary was held Sept. 3 at Yale University, where Psi Chi was founded in 1929. In conjunction with the Archives of the History of American Psychology, Psi Chi presented Yale with a photo of the Ninth International Congress on Psychology, held in 1929, at which two University of Kansas graduate students--Edwin B.
