Div. 9 (Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues­SPSSI)

Member Daniel Druckman, PhD, has donated $1,200 to SPSSI's Otto Klineberg Intercultural and International Relations Award, which recognizes the best original paper or article on the social psychological aspects of intercultural or international relations. Druckman, a Klineberg winner in 1995 and a Fellow of SPSSI, dedicated the donation in memory of his father, Irving, who passed away on Oct. 21, 1999.

Div. 12 (Clinical)

Div. 12 invites nominations for four awards:

2001 Theodore Blau Award, which recognizes a psychologist who earned a doctorate within the last 10 years and has made outstanding contributions to the field of clinical psychology.

2001 David Shakow Award for Early Career Contributions, which honors the achievements a psychologist who received a doctoral degree in 1992 or later has made to both the science and practice of clinical psychology.

Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions to Clinical Psychology.

Florence C. Halpern Award for Distinguished Contributions to Clinical Psychology.

To nominate a colleague for one of these awards, submit a copy of a current curriculum vitae and a one- to two-page typewritten summary of the nominee's achievements. The awards will be presented at APA's 2001 Annual Convention in San Francisco, Aug. 24­28. All materials must be submitted by Oct. 31. Contact: W. Div. 25 (Division of Behavior Analysis)

Div. 25 has changed its name from Experimental Analysis of Behavior to the Division of Behavior Analysis. The change was made after the division conducted a bylaws vote and complied with APA's Association Rule 100-3 regarding a change in division name. The rule provides for a 60-day period of notification of this proposed change. This provides an opportunity for any objection to the name change to be raised by members of council or existing divisions. No objections were raised during the comment period. Please update any publications in your office that reflect the name of this division.

Div. 41 (American Psychology­Law Society)

Div. 41's journal, Law and Human Behavior, invites manuscript submissions for a special issue devoted to pretrial publicity in criminal and civil cases. The division welcomes manuscripts that focus on:

• Empirical investigations of the effects of pretrial publicity on verdicts in civil and criminal cases or on proposed remedies for these effects.

• Legal analyses of important or newly emerging criminal, civil, evidentiary and constitutional law issues that are raised by pretrial publicity.

• Reviews of the empirical literature in the area, including suggestions for how the empirical research can or should inform public policy as well as directions for further research.

• The growing use of case consultation services in the area of pretrial publicity, particularly including the legal and ethical issues regarding such services as well as empirical data from these cases.

Collaborative work between psychologists and attorneys are encouraged. Solomon Fulero, PhD, JD, will serve as guest editor for this special issue. Send four copies of each manuscript, prepared for anonymous review, to Fulero at the Department of Psychology, Sinclair Community College, Dayton, OH 45402.

Div. 49 (Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy)

The Publications Committee of Div. 49 invites applications for a new editor for its journal Group Dynamics: Theory, Research, and Practice from 2002 to 2007. Donelson R. Forsyth, PhD, is the current editor. The journal publishes original empirical articles, theoretical analyses, literature reviews and brief reports dealing with basic and applied topics in the field of group research and application.

Candidates should be members of APA and Div. 49, and should be available to start receiving manuscripts on Jan. 1 to prepare for issues published in 2002. Duties associated with the position can be viewed at the journal's Web page: http://www.vcu.edu/hasweb/group/gd.html. The search committee encourages participation by members of underrepresented groups in the publication process. Self-nominations are welcome.
