Keeping up with the latest style at www.apastyle.org

APA has launched a new information resource on the Web that will provide help for users of APA publication style.

This new Web site, www.apastyle.org, is an online companion to the recently released Fifth Edition of APA's popular Publication Manual (see related article). This site is meant to provide information on changes in APA style between print editions. It also creates an online resource for tips and advice on how best to write in APA style.

Students in particular will find this site very helpful for research papers, reports and presentations. Along with the most current information on citing electronic references and electronic source material, www.apastyle.org has a media spelling guide and examples of how to meet the many different challenges of using Internet sources.

In addition to offering guidance on such clear-cut issues as grammar and punctuation, the site covers more complex issues, such as what constitutes ethical publication and how to remove bias from language when discussing disabilities, sexuality, race and ethnicity. The site will provide a "Tip of the Week" to give more detailed information on some of the nuts and bolts of APA usage.

Interactive features have also been built into the site. There's an "Ask the Expert" area, where users can submit questions and receive an answer from APA staff. Users can also sign up to receive free e-mail updates on APA style guidelines.

The site will be updated regularly as APA style guidelines continue to evolve.
