Participate in Div. 19, 21 joint meeting
APA Divs. 19 (Military) and 21 (Applied Experimental and Engineering) invite submissions for papers, presentations and panel sessions for "Engineering and military psychology: improving lives and enhancing national security," the divisions' joint annual midyear symposium, to be held March 4-5 in Fort Belvoir, Va.
The meeting will highlight ways that engineering and military psychology improve people's lives while also enhancing national security. Graduate students and advanced undergraduate students are encouraged to participate in either paper or poster sessions, and will be eligible for Div. 19 awards for best graduate and undergraduate student papers and posters.
The submission deadline is Dec. 1. The symposium is co-sponsored by the Potomac Chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. Proposals, reviewers sought for law and psychology conference
Div. 41 (American Psychology-Law Society) seeks proposals for symposia, papers and posters for its 2004 annual conference, to be held March 4-7 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Topics in all areas of psychology and law are invited. International submissions and papers authored or co-authored by students are welcome. Conference organizers are especially interested in empirically based proposals and those that describe innovative applications of psychology to law and policy. The submission deadline is Oct. 1.

Congratulations to Div. 54 student honorees
Div. 54 (Society of Pediatric Psychology) announces its four 2003 Student Travel Award winners. Winners received $250 toward travel to APA's Annual Convention in Toronto to present a poster as first author in the Div. 54 poster session.
The winners are:
* Janelle Wagner, of Oklahoma State University, for her research paper "A cognitive diathesis-stress model of depression in juvenile rheumatic disease." Her faculty supervisor is John Chaney, PhD.
* Lisa Meltzer, PhD, a former graduate student at the University of Florida who is currently a postdoc at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, for her research paper "Social comparisons among children with cancer and their siblings." Her faculty supervisor was Mary T. Rourke, PhD.
* Jill Van Pelt, of Oklahoma State University, for her research on "Dispositional self-focus in college students with asthma." Her faculty supervisor is Larry Mullins, PhD.
* Molly White, of Oklahoma State University, for her research paper "Attributional style and depression in children with juvenile rheumatic diseases." Her faculty supervisor is John Chaney, PhD.
