Third edition of ethics book now available
Print version: page 15

An updated version of "Ethical Conflicts in Psychology"--a handbook designed to guide psychologists facing ethical quandaries--is now available from APA. Written by psychologist and attorney Donald N. Bersoff, PhD, JD, the third edition takes into account recent events affecting psychologists, including:

* APA's new Ethics Code, which went into effect on June 1.

* Revisions to the Rules and Procedures APA's Ethics Committee uses to adjudicate complaints, published in August 2002.

* The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, which went into effect in April.

Widely adopted as a textbook in graduate training programs, the book includes excerpts from relevant journal articles, books, court proceedings, government policies, organizational guidelines and other source material to illustrate ethical principles and decision-making.

A few of the topics broached: confidentiality; multiple relationships; psychological assessment; therapy and other interventions; forensic settings; business settings; and research, teaching and supervision.
