These 3-hour workshops feature leading practitioners and scholars working in key areas of professional practice. Evaluating Autism Spectrum Disorders with the ASRS: New Data and New Ideas

This presentation includes a brief overview of definitions of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and a large study based on the Autism Spectrum Rating Scale (ASRS; Goldstein & Naglieri, 2009) standardization and validity samples. We will examine psychometric qualities of Autism scales and the ASRS including administration, reliability, validity, interpretation, and treatment planning.

This workshop is designed to help you:

  1. Develop a current understanding of the characteristics of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, 

  2. Recognize the large national study of symptoms related to Autism Spectrum Disorders,

  3. Identify the state of the art of assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorders, 

  4. Examine the Autism Spectrum Rating Scales reliability and validity, 

  5. Differentiate children with Autism Spectrum Disorders from those with ADHD, and 

  6. Identify the resources and Intervention options for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

About the presenter: Jack Naglieri, PhD, Professor and Director of the Center for Cognitive Development at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. From 1982 to August of 2000, he was Professor of School Psychology and Psychology at Ohio State University. Dr. Naglieri also holds an appointment as a Senior Researcher The Devereux Foundations Institute for Clinical Training and Research. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Long Island University, Master of Science from St. Johns University, and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia in 1979. The author of more than 150 scholarly papers, book chapters, books, and tests he has focused his efforts since the late 1970s on reconceptualizing intelligence.
