Collaborative research fostering interactions between scientists and practitioners leads to results that deepens understanding and enhances the effectiveness of treatments for addiction. This premise is the basis for the 2013 Collaborative Perspectives on Addictive (CPA) conference, hosted jointly by two divisions of the APA: Division 28 (Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse) and Division 50 (Society of Addiction Psychology).

The conference will take a "from bench to bedside" approach that integrates animal research, laboratory research with human subjects, and clinical trials. It will bring together leaders from both divisions to facilitate lively debate and interchange and professional development opportunities.

The location of partner The W Hotel-Midtown has been uniquely selected for their ability to help foster dynamic interaction including breakout rooms, keynote speaker "living room" opportunities, and ongoing facilitated conversations throughout the conference to spark cross-discipline innovation.
