Creative Alternatives of New York (CANY): An Introduction to Drama Therapy

This program is for mental health professionals, social workers, creative arts therapists, psychotherapists, actors, performers and teaching artists.
This one-day training, from 10 a.m–5 p.m., will introduce you to the principles of drama therapy.
Throughout the day, you will examine ways in which theatre can be used to transform lives. Join us and explore the basic tenets of the CANY model of drama therapy through theory and group activities.
Participants will:
Experience the drama therapy process in action.
Gain practical skills in how to safely explore trauma and challenging life experiences through metaphor and play.
Participate in drama therapy interventions aimed at improving client relatedness, self-esteem, emotional expression and self-regulation, spontaneity and the capacity to play a diverse range of life roles.
Fees
$120 —for all professionals
$90 —for full-time students and AEA/SAG-AFTRA members with valid I.D.
$255 —for three colleagues from one organization
