Working with LGBT clients with serious mental illness

New resources are available on creating an affirmative therapeutic environment and more

The APA Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Concerns Office is pleased to announce the creation of a new webpage titled Promoting Good Practices for Mental Health Facilities in Working with LGBT Clients with Serious Mental Illness. 

The new resource includes sections on: 

  • Understanding the Concerns of LGBT Clients, 

  • Recommendations and Policies for Developing Affirmative Therapeutic Environments, 

  • Program Models for LGBT Clients, and 

  • General Resources on Serious Mental Illness.
