Alberto Figueroa-Garcia receives award for outstanding contributions in support of the CSL/SLC Diversity Initiatives

The Committee of State Leaders (CSL) Diversity Delegates Initiative of the State Leadership Conference (SLC), Recognition and Dinner Working Group honored and recognized Alberto Figueroa-Garcia, assistant director of the APA Office of Ethnic Minority Affairs (OEMA) for his outstanding contributions and the work he has done over the years in support of the CSL/SLC diversity initiatives. According to Working Group co-chairpersons, Dr. Mabel S. Lam and Dr. Phyllis Bolling, Figueroa-Garcia’s “…behind-the-scenes hard work have not gone unnoticed!” The Diversity Delegates Recognition Dinner took place on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Tony Chang’s restaurant in Washington, D.C. The award was presented by Dr. Melba Vasquez, APA Past-President. The presentation ceremony included remarks by Vazquez, a letter from Dr. Jennifer Kelly, APA Board of Directors, read by Dr. Kathy McDaniel-Wilson, and remarks by Dr. Gwendolyn P. Keita, executive director of the Public Interest Directorate, and Dr. Tiffany G. Townsend, OEMA senior director. OEMA staff members Sherry Wynn and Farzana Saleem were also present and expressed congratulations.
