Champion of Change at the White House

Maria Dolores Cimini, PhD, co-chair of APA’s Women with Disabilities in STEM Education Project, was recognized for her work to promote access to STEM disciplines
On May 7, 2012, Maria Dolores Cimini, PhD, was recognized at the White House as a Champion of Change. Dr. Cimini, a scientist-practitioner, promotes access to STEM for students with disabilities, particularly young women with disabilities, in part as co-chair of the APA Women with Disabilities in STEM Education Project (WWDSE) and through her mentoring of students and early career scientists on a national scale. Cimini is also a member of the 2012-2013 APA Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology and former member of the Committee on Disability Issues in Psychology (CDIP).
