ACT Raising Safe Kids Program

The Violence Prevention Office continues expansion of the program to Greece, Peru and Colombia.

The Violence Prevention Office continues the international expansion of the program. In 2012, Japan and Brazil added new sites for the ACT program, joining Greece, Peru and Colombia. Through a partnership with the Alliant International University/San Francisco, the ACT program materials were translated into Japanese, and a pilot group was conducted with parents in a childcare center in Yokohama. After some revision, program implementation is planned to roll out in the fall.

The program materials were translated into Portuguese and a two-day facilitator training conducted in Brazil by the VPO director last October launched the program there. Twenty-three psychologists and graduate students were trained through our partnership with two public universities there. The first groups of parents for the program are scheduled to start this month.
