New online clearinghouse of geropsychology resources launched.
Access to educational materials and training opportunities for psychologists and trainees related to work with older adults is critical to ensure a competent workforce. To meet this need, GeroCentral has just been launched. This internet clearinghouse website brings together geropsychology training and professional development resources in one place to increase ease of access. GeroCentral includes a clinician toolbox, research resources, Pikes Peak Geropsychology Competencies, policy & advocacy information and geropsychology resources for every level of training for students, instructors and those interested in mentoring. Erin Emery, PhD, of Rush University Medical Center, and past president of APA Div. 12-Section 2 (Clinical Geropsychology) spearheaded this collaboration between 12-2 and Div. 20 (Adult Development and Aging), with the Council of Professional Geropsychology Training Programs, Psychologists in Long Term Care and CONA.
