APA Aging Leadership Team

The team fosters intergroup communication and a coordinated psychology response.

The Office on Aging convenes this group as one mechanism to increase ongoing communication and collaboration among psychology and aging constituent groups. The team is composed of the presidents of APA Div. 20 (Adult Development and Aging), Div. 12-II (Clinical Geropsychology) and Psychologists in Long Term Care, and the chairs of CONA and the Council of Professional Geropsychology Training Programs. Its goal is to provide coordinated input to efforts with implications for older adults and aging, both internal and external to APA. Recent discussions have included the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality request for comments on draft key questions for their Non-pharmacologic Interventions for Agitation and Aggression in Dementia review, the Commission on Accreditation’s review of standards for doctoral, internship and postdoctoral residencies in professional psychology, nominations for APA boards and committees, and how to utilize social media to educate about the role of psychologists in aging issues.
