HOPE Training Resource Package 2006
Introduction
The American Psychological Association (APA) HIV Office for Psychology Education (HOPE) Training Resource Package 2006 is designed specifically for use by HOPE Regional Psychologist Trainers as they endeavor to train their fellow mental health professionals about the psychological, psychosocial, and neuropsychological issues associated with HIV disease.
The design of the HOPE Training Resource Package is unique and represents lessons learned during the first nine years of the HOPE Program. Training experience and suggestions from the cadre of more than 450 HOPE Regional Trainers nationwide shaped this design. The HOPE Training Resource Package is entirely modular; there is no beginning, middle, nor end. Not only flexible, this resource is designed to be built-upon and updated as needed.
Contained within the complete Resource Package is everything needed for HOPE Regional Trainers to assess, develop, and implement training in their communities. These resources, combined with technical assistance and program support provided by HOPE Program Staff should ensure the success of all of dedicated HOPE Regional Trainers.
HOPE Trainers determine the training needs of a requesting group or agency using the HOPE Program Training Needs Assessment Form. The Trainers develop a training program, goals and objectives, and plan a training that will guide the participants through this learning process by presenting important concepts, explaining exercises, keeping participants on track, assuring that important points are raised and grasped, and assisting participants in applying key concepts and newly acquired skills to their unique problems and issues.
