APA's Committee on Disability Issues in Psychology (CDIP) has put together the following programming for this year's APA Convention to be held August 18-21, in Washington, D.C.
  • Psychological Disability in the Workplace: Employment as
    Opportunity and Therapy

    Chairs: Nathan D. Ainspan, PhD, and Izabela Schultz, PhD
    Sunday, August 21 from 12:00 to 1:50 PM
    This symposium summarizes the latest data and findings on the options, benefits, and costs of employment of people with psychological disabilities, provides case studies demonstrating effective practices and outcomes, and offers guidance to psychologists working with individuals, their coworkers, and managers.


  • Ethical Practice Issues and Persons with Disabilities
    Saturday, August 20 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM
    The purpose of this Continuing Education workshop is to help psychologists begin to develop cultural competence and ethical assessment and practices with regard to clients with disabilities. Workshop participants will first be introduced to the social model of disability as a framework by which to conceptualize the disability experience. Its implications on clinical practice will be highlighted.
