Resource Guide for Psychology Graduate Students With Disabilities

Forward

We are proud to present this first edition of the Resource Guide for Psychology Graduate Students With Disabilities. Containing articles written Students having a conversationby members of American Psychology's (APA) Committee on Disability Issues in Psychology (CDIP), American Psychological Association of Graduate Students (APAGS), and staff of the Disability Issues in Psychology Office and APAGS, this Resource Guide puts forth insider perspectives on critical issues and concerns that today's students with disabilities face. The guide offers suggestions on issues related to educational training and professional development, presents an overview of the major federal disability laws, and offers practical advice on successfully navigating the classroom and campus.

We hope that you will find these recommendations valuable throughout your graduate school experience, whether you are a first-year graduate student, an advanced student working on your dissertation, or applying for internships. Although many of the suggestions we offer are not exclusive to disabled graduate students, there are some unique concerns specific to this population of students that we have tried to address in greater detail.

Conceptualized and developed as an evolving document, sections of the Resource Guide will be expanded and new sections and topics added as issues are identified. The editors welcome your feedback and suggestions for future editions of the Resource Guide. To receive a copy of this document in alternative format, please contact:
